Spring Is On The Way

As we enter the month of March the nights are getting lights and spring is just around the corner!

I’ll soon be starting the first light cuts of the forthcoming lawn season – nothing too short, just a light trim! One thing that will certainly improve the quality of your lawn is scarification. I scarify lawns to remove organic matter from around the base of the grass plants and tidy up any straggly lateral growth. In a nutshell, when I scarify a lawn I’m typically removing thatch or moss that prevents good dense grass growth. Thatchy and mossy lawns tend not be tolerant to wear or drought – not that drought has been a problem over the last two growing seasons!
